THREE CHEERS FOR THE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE

Hi Folks -

Well, there's been a lot of talk this week about what it means to be an American. Here's my two cents worth: It means we don't hold a grudge. We let someone make a mistake without getting all hot and bothered at him, especially if that someone has served this community tirelessly for the last six years.

As you'll see from this week's campaign video update, which my nephew Danny won't let me see until he puts it on votegarner.com later tonight, it all started with a couple of flag pins. And it escalated into a whole lot of hoo-hah, if you ask me (BONNIE'S NOTE: The Mayor didn't use the word "hoo-hah" but it's been a long week and he's tired).

So let's all try to be good Americans in the weeks to come. Even if you're an outsider from Chessup and you're running against me, we owe each other that much.

God Bless Verne, and God Bless America.

Omgoodness...you fellows...is it always about size? It isn't the pin it's what's in the heart that matters.

WELL YOU DARN WELL BETTER BELIEVE THAT SIZE MAKES A DIFFERENCE! BIGGER FLAG, BIGGER PATRIOT! ANYBODY KNOWS THAT. JUST ASK MISTER DONALD TRUMP WHO INVESTS A GOOD PART OF HIS CONSIDERABLE FORTUNE IN HAVING GIANT FLAGS CUSTOM BUILT TO FLY GLORIOUSLY OVER HIS MANY REAL ESTATE HOLDINGS. DON'T LET ANYONE KEEP YOU DOWN, MAYOR ST. JAMES! YOU ARE INDEED A TRUE PATRIOT!

Dear Mr. Mayor,

In looking closely at your flag pin, does it have all 50 stars? I think it might only have 48. I know your campaign manager said that it was specially made for you by Honduran pre-teens, but maybe he pulled a fast one on you and substituted an old one he had. I know my grandma told me that there used to only be 48 states when she was ten years old like I am.

You know what I like about Garner's pin? It's not only bigger, it's got some girth to it too. Look at Blank's pin, it's skinny like a pencil.

I also like the curve to it, like something's really being blown, you know, by the wind I mean.

I'm so glad you noticed, Mr. Yodershire, I've been saying that for quite awhile now! And Nila, bless your heart, if Mr. Quinn can save a few campaign dollars by leaving off a few stars, then that's just a few dollars more we have to spend on new signs with the Mayor's name spelled correctly! Keep up the good work in mathematics, though!
